Texbook to Feature Nippon Foundation Work

page  12

The work of The Nippon Foundation is far reaching. At the same
time though, we take pride in the fact that much of our work
touches people and areas that have been overlooked or neglected by
others. This means that we can have a strong impact on those who,
for some reason, have fallen through the world's safety nets. It
also means that a good deal of what we do goes unnoticed. There is
a certain pride to be found in this kind of work.

However, we must admit that, being human, we are pleased when our
efforts are recognized and written about in outside sources.

Recently, we were happy to learn that our work has been mentioned
in a textbook for Japanese university students. The essay in that
book provides something of an outside view on our work and so we
are posting it here on our website, along with a link to the
publisher.

universities, and takesissues faced by our
modern world, using them as the base for a
series of 20 lessons, comprised of essays and
drills that will not only encourage students
to use natural English, but should enable them
to discuss current affairs as well. Chapter 12
is about The Nippon Foundation, and the
editors have kindly given us permission to
reprint that chapter here.
