A southern regional conference on leprosy will be organised by the
Japan-based Sasakawa Memorial Health Foundation on May 15-16 in
the city.
The conference will shed light on the current situation of leprosy
in India and steps to help people cope with the affliction. Senior
officials from the Central Government, state-level officers of
southern states, NGOs, medical professionals and people already
cured of the scourge will participate.
Yohei Sasakawa, president of Nippon Foundation, win be the chief
guest of the conference at Hotel Radha Park Inn, to be inaugurated
by Health Minister Thalavai Sundaram. Dr Dhillon, Deputy Director
General of Health Services, will also be present.
