What is a hero? A person who risks life and
limb to save another? Someone who actually
dies trying? Or could we also include people
who spend years improving the lives of
people living in poverty? Or people who bring
the plight of those living with leprosy to the
attention of the public?
Of course when it comes right down to it, any of these people,
anyone who acts with the selflessness required to do any of these
things is a hero. These people move us because they do the things
that most of us know is right, but are not sure that we personally
have the strength to do.
The vast majority of heroes are not the large people that fill the
screen at the movies. They work in silence and anonymity.
However, the Foundation for Encouragement of Social Contribution
is doing what it can to see that these people receive the credit
due them.
