We are very happy to announce that The Nippon Foundation has recently launched a Book Donation Project with the aim of providing books about contemporary Japan to libraries overseas. A committee of ten experts has compiled a list of 100 books that they believe will help readers gain a better understanding of contemporary Japan. In the first phase of this program, we are inviting applications from public and university libraries in the United States.
We have attached here a list of the 100 books, an application form, and a brief outline of the aims of this project. Further, short summaries of each of the books can be found in the project catalog at the bottom of this page. Institutions interested in receiving all or some of these books should complete the application form and the book checklist below and send them to us by post, fax or email before January 15, 2009.
Post and fax applications can be sent to: Etsuko Morimura, The Nippon Foundation, 1-2-2 Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo 107-8404, TEL. 81-3-6229-5269, FAX. 81-3-6229-5180
