The Nippon Foundation

July 31st is the deadline for applications for The Nippon Foundation Nikkei Scholarship program. The program, which is entitled "Dream Come True Project," is run by the Association of Nikkei and Japanese Abroad, with funding from The Nippon Foundation.
The handsome scholarship package provides roughly 5 students each year with 1) round trip airfare from their country to Japan, 2) tuition for up to 5 years at whatever Japanese university they successfully apply to, 3) living/housing expenses and 4) the costs of group workshops and conference fees.
The project gives young Latin American nikkei (descendents of Japanese immigrants) an opportunity to study in Japan. Individuals are sought who have concrete plans and dreams of promoting understanding between Japan their country of origin, and who wish to work for the development of their country and community.
Interested parties are encouraged to read the Application Guideline for 2009 on the website of The Association of Nikkei and Japanese Abroad for more information.
