On October 12-13, intellectual leaders came together from around the
world for the 13th Forum 2000 Conferences, held at the Zofin Palace in Prague.
The topic under discussion this year was "Democracy and Freedom in a Multipolar World."
Within this framework, the key topics discussed were:
In addition to Vaclav Havel, former president of the Czech Republic, and Yohei Sasakawa, chairman of The Nippon Foundation, this year's forum hosted the likes of Prince Norodom Sirivudh of Cambodia, ASEAN Secretary General Surin Pitsuwan, Former President Festus Mogae of Botswana, and Irish Musician and Political Activist Bob Geldof.
As always, the forum, which was open to the public, provided a place for people from all sides of the globalization spectrum, bringing together not only liberals and conservatives, but people from the four points of the compass as well.
Speeches made by Chairman Sasakawa at the conference can be found via the links at the bottom of this page.
