International Symposium on Radiation and Health to Feature 8 Experts from 7 Countries
Location: Fukushima View Hotel (Fukushima-shi, Fukushima Prefecture)
The Nippon Foundation will hold an international symposium, Beyond Radiation and Health Risk—Toward Resilience and Recovery, featuring an international cadre of experts discussing the effects of the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident on the health of the residents of Fukushima Prefecture, and measures for recovery going forward.
Over two days, these specialists in the fields of radiation and medicine will discuss the results of Fukushima Prefecture’s Health Management Survey and the reports of international institutions on radiation and health risks. They will also offer advice to the national and local governments on how best to support Fukushima’s recovery efforts going forward, based on opinions solicited from medical and mental health care providers working with displaced residents.
In addition to domestic radiation experts, the symposium will feature eight experts from seven foreign countries, including representatives of the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
