Recipients of the “Mirai Fund – The Joint Shipbuilding Fund for Tohoku” Announced

The Mirai Fund – The Joint Shipbuilding Fund for Tohoku was established to support the recovery and strengthen the management of shipbuilders and related businesses damaged by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. Initially established by the Nippon Foundation with an approximately ¥16 billion grant from the Japanese government (Reconstruction Agency and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism), the fund began collecting donations from additional donors in August 2013, and will continue to receive donations until March 31, 2015.

The Mirai Fund has decided at this time to provide assistance totaling approximately ¥220 million to two projects based in Miyagi Prefecture (Minamisanriku and Ishinomaki) that are engaged in plant construction and equipment installation.
