Chairman of The Nippon Foundation, Yohei Sasakawa, welcomes the recent agreement between the Union Peace-making Work Committee representing the Union Government of Myanmar and the Nationwide Ceasefire Coordination Team representing the ethnic armed groups, on outstanding elements of the draft of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement Document, as witnessed by President Thein Sein at the Myanmar Peace Center. This level of agreement bodes well for the progress of the ongoing Myanmar peace process. The parties to the current agreement are to be congratulated for maintaining dialogue and building mutual trust through a critical time in Myanmar’s transition.

The Nippon Foundation has remained engaged in the promotion of welfare for all the people of Myanmar for the past 37 years.
