Date & time: February 20, 2018 (Tuesday); 14:30 – 15:30
Venue: The Nippon Foundation Building (1-2-2 Akasaka Minato-ku, Tokyo) – Bow Room (Ground Floor)

The Nippon Foundation is currently undertaking the “NF-GEBCO Seabed 2030 project,” a global project that aims to map 100% of the world’s seabed by 2030. As the project transitions from the establishment phase to an operational phase, we will present details of the current status of the project together with the issues it faces and the project roadmap.

Bathymetric data plays an important role in addressing a wide range of issues, including helping to secure the safe passage of vessels across the sea, contributing to the analysis and forecasting of climate change and tsunamis, the sustainable development of resources, and fishery management. Together with the GEBCO Guiding Committee, we aim to complete the map of the world’s seabed by 2030, by compiling existing bathymetric data that has not been released to the public and gathering data for the uncharted areas of the world.
