Fields of Activity

ENHANCING COMMUNITIES

Many types of people live in our communities: young and old, and persons with disabilities or illnesses. Some of these people need support in some form.

After the Great East Japan Earthquake, people expressed a desire to help elderly and disabled persons, and to revitalize their communities.

When individuals think and act on those thoughts, society will change.

We support the development of communities in which everyone supports one another, and all are able to lead a rich life.

What We Do

IN THE CAUSE OF LIFE

Human life ultimately ends with death.

Death has many causes, including illness, accidents, and even suicide.

We reinforce social safety nets and provide support to enrich irreplaceable human lives, so that people can live out their lives as they wish, while leaving a bright future for their families and loved ones.

What We Do

A FUTURE FOR YOUTH

The increasing complexity and diversity of household and family environments can lead to many problems in schools, including bullying, truancy, and classroom disruption.

Resolving these problems should not be solely the responsibility of families and schools; communities and society need to work together to support children.

We work toward a society in which the children and young people of the next generation have hope for the future and pursue their own goals.

What We Do

ENRICHING CULTURE

Across Japan, local traditions and culture have been handed down through the efforts of local residents over many years.

With the acceleration of the declining birthrate, aging population, and depopulation of rural regions, however, the future of these traditions and culture is increasingly uncertain.

Our generation today has an important responsibility to recognize anew the value of Japan’s traditions and culture, which are also a subject of interest and appreciation overseas, and to preserve what has been handed down from our forebears and pass them on to our children, grandchildren, and future generations.

We provide support to ensure that these world-renowned, rich, beautiful traditions and culture are preserved.

What We Do

THE FUTURE OF OUR OCEAN

The ocean is essential to human life.

Today, however, the world’s seas and oceans face a variety of problems, including pollution, kidnapping and piracy, and the depletion of marine food resources.

Resolving these problems requires human resources to tackle these issues.

Even if there are people and organizations who share this sense of crisis for the future of our ocean, they are not able to work together and effectively realize their full potential.

We are cultivating people to clear the future for the world’s oceans, while at the same time building a foundation that connects these people and organizations, to pass on the ocean’s riches to future generations.

What We Do

TOWARD HUMAN SECURITY

Many problems like poverty, famine, disease, and armed conflict are regional or global issues that transcend national boundaries. The lives, livelihoods, and dignity of people in developing countries are especially threatened.

Given the difficulty of solving these problems by the affected countries on their own, the countries, international institutions, private-sector companies, NGOs, and other organizations that make up the international community need to work together to deploy their respective strengths and specializations.

We work with various stakeholders around the world to address the diverse problems facing humanity.

What We Do

FORGING GLOBAL TIES

As countries become increasingly globalized and interdependent, various problems like poverty, disease, and environmental degradation cross national borders and become intertwined, and have a major impact on people and their daily lives.

In addition to abundant knowledge and experience, global cooperation and a shared sense of purpose, based on mutual trust and understanding, are important in addressing these issues.

We cultivate human resources, instilling people with a strong determination to tackle the world’s various problems, and build international networks that act to bring about social change.
