Message toward World Leprosy Day

• To the members of the Leprosy Community

This year, January 30 is World Leprosy Day. Let us all be involved with leprosy, disseminate messages on social media calling for an end to discrimination. Each one of us can be a spokesperson. We can all make our voices heard. Please, “Don’t forget leprosy!”

• To the Healthcare Professionals

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there has been a 37% drop over the previous year in reported new cases of leprosy. In many countries, leprosy programs have stalled. When detection and treatment are delayed, this can lead to disability. To give as many people as possible the best outcome, I appeal to healthcare professionals: please, “Don’t forget leprosy!”
