Outline of Activities

The Blue Sea & Green Land Foundation’s primary goal is to help young people develop healthy minds and bodies through outdoor activities. It has developed many facilities that maximize the benefits people can receive from Japan’s abundant natural beauty. These facilities range from nearly 500 local marine centers around the nation to large regional facilities that serve as hubs, uniting the smaller centers into networks of marine sports facilities.

Through these facilities, the Blue Sea & Green Land Foundation works to popularize sports like canoeing and yachting, conducts instructor training to improve the level of safety on the nation’s waterfronts, and brings children into direct contact with the sea through events including the B&G Cruise for Overseas Experience.

In recent years, the foundation has also begun to broaden its focus to meet the needs of Japan’s rapidly aging population.
