These foundations work around the world for the betterment of humankind, in a diverse range of areas including maritime safety, food security, health, and regional networking.
Blue Sea and Green Land Foundation
The Blue Sea and Green Land Foundation works to develop the healthy minds and bodies of young people through outdoor activities, with a particular focus on maritime sports including canoeing, swimming, and sailing.

Fondation Franco-Japonaise Sasakawa
Fondation Franco-Japonaise facilitates cultural and intellectual cooperation between France and Japan. Its work ranges from the running of a high school level Japan-visitation program for French students, to the presentation and promotion of rakugo comic storytelling in France.

Foundation for Encouragement of Social Contribution
The Foundation for Encouragement of Social Contribution publicizes good works and heroic actions that go largely unnoticed by the press and by society in general. The foundation also works to promote community service movements and the development of society as a whole.

The Japan Gateball Union is an umbrella organization promoting gateball, a unique sport that originated in Japan and can be enjoyed by men and women of all ages, around the world. International exchanges through gateball are making a significant contribution toward nurturing friendships and understanding among countries.

The Museum of Maritime Science aims to deepen public understanding and awareness of the oceans through a variety of proactive initiatives that highlight the culture of ships and the sea.

Nippon Ginkenshibu Foundation
The Nippon Ginkenshibu Foundation promotes the traditional Japanese arts of Gin-ei (poetry recitation), Ken-bu (poetry accompanied by a sword dance), and Shi-bu (poetry accompanied by a fan dance).

Nippon Music Foundation
The Nippon Music Foundation acts as custodian of a number of the world’s top-quality stringed instruments. The Foundation loans them gratis to promising musicians of all nationalities, making it possible for people around the world to enjoy the sound of these superb instruments. The Foundation has organized concerts featuring more than 10 Stradivarius instruments.

Nippon Taiko Foundation
The Nippon Taiko Foundation promotes the traditions of the taiko, or Japanese drum, both at home and abroad. It holds festivals and competitions, educates performers and teachers, and promotes international exchange.

Sasakawa Africa Association
The Sasakawa Africa Association works to improve the food security and livelihoods of smallholder farmers in sub-Saharan Africa, working closely with national agricultural extension services to introduce improved technologies across the value chain from production to marketing.

Sasakawa Health Foundation
To realize better health and dignity for all, Sasakawa Health Foundation works for the elimination of Hansen’s disease (also known as leprosy), promotes community health in Japan’s “super-aging” society and engages in activities to improve public health through support for training, innovation and research.

Sasakawa India Leprosy Foundation
The Sasakawa India Leprosy Foundation works to end the stigma against leprosy, and to ensure equal social, economic, and cultural opportunities for those affected by the disease. The foundation focuses on education, micro-finance, vocational training, and raising awareness of leprosy, with the aim of integrating people affected by leprosy and their families into society.

Sasakawa Sports Foundation
As a think-tank in the field of sport policies in Japan, the Sasakawa Sports Foundation implements a wide range of activities including survey research, grant programs, and international cultural exchange, guided by its mission, “Sport for Everyone”.

The Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation
The Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation’s aim is to develop good relations between the United Kingdom and Japan, by advancing the education of the people of both nations in each other’s culture, society, and achievements. It seeks to promote mutual understanding and cooperation through financial support for activities in the arts, humanities, Japanese language, medicine, science, the environment, sports, and youth education.

The Japan Science Society
The Japan Science Society promotes scientific education and international ties within the scientific community. The Society has also promoted international understanding by distributing millions of Japanese books, donated by Japanese companies and libraries, to Chinese universities.

The Sasakawa Peace Foundation
The Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF) engages with the changes continuously occurring in the natural and social environments, seeking wholesome and sustainable development for our increasingly complex and diverse human society. It promotes research and development, international cooperation and exchange, and policy proposals, using unconventional ideas and approaches and making full use of its unique capabilities as a private foundation. It also contributes to the development of human welfare through the development of new governance systems on land and sea around the globe.

The Global Frontier Fund
The Global Frontier Fund supports projects that lead to the further development of projects carried out by The Sasakawa Peace Foundation and The Ocean Policy Research Institute, SPF.
The Ocean Policy Research Institute, SPF
The Ocean Policy Research Institute is a “do-tank,” dedicated to selected research activities involving ocean policy, and the dissemination of useful information and policy proposals on ocean issues.
The Sasakawa Japan-China Friendship Fund
The Sasakawa Japan-China Friendship Fund is strengthening positive relations between Japan and China through exchanges, personnel training, research, and survey projects.
The Sasakawa Middle East Islam Fund
The Sasakawa Middle East Islam Fund (SMEIF) is a private foundation established as part of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation that aims to contribute actively toward establishing peace in the Middle East and showcasing Japan in the region through the hosting of activities at the grassroots level that foster interaction between Japan and the Middle East.
The Sasakawa Pacific Island Nations Fund
Established in 1989, this fund promotes exchange programs, human resource development and communications in the Pacific region.
The Sasakawa Pan-Asia Fund
The Sasakawa Pan Asia Fund helps stabilize the current rapid social change in the region through assistance in human resource development and capacity building, exchanges, and research related to economic reform.

The Scandinavia-Japan Sasakawa Foundation
The Scandinavia-Japan Sasakawa Foundation gives grants to private individuals, companies, institutions and organizations in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and Japan, to promote academic research/development and to support education and training.

The Tokyo Foundation for Policy Research(external site)
The Tokyo Foundation for Policy Research’s primary activities are conducting policy research and making policy proposals, with a second focus on nurturing human resources. It administers various leadership development programs, including the Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund (Sylff), a global scholarship program for graduate students at 69 universities around the world.
