Outline of Activities

Fondation Franco-Japonaise Sasakawa works to strengthen the bonds between Japan and France, through a vigorous program aimed at fostering greater understanding, knowledge, and interest between the two countries. Its raison d’etre is to cultivate ever stronger bonds of friendship between the people of Japan and France, allowing them to work together effectively toward the betterment of their societies.

Priorities are given to projects that (1) develop a Franco-Japanese network by bringing French people from many fields and levels to Japan, promoting interaction with their Japanese counterparts, (2) promote the advancement of academia and society at large through research and symposia that facilitate Franco-Japanese cooperation, and (3) contribute to the evolution of aesthetic values, by introducing artists and artisans from each country to the other and fostering collaboration between the two art communities.
