Outline of Activities

The Nippon Taiko Foundation promotes and preserves the taiko (Japanese drum) tradition. Recognition of this art has been growing, both at home and abroad, and the foundation works to promote this trend and to support networking among Japan’s many taiko groups. Though traditionally an exclusively male art form, taiko groups now include both men and women of all age groups, as well as people with disabilities.

The foundation’s activities to promote the taiko include festivals and contests, taiko seminars, taiko certification, and international exchanges. The foundation also conducts taiko-related research and surveys.
