Earthquake Relief Effort

Since the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011, The Nippon Foundation has been working full speed to bring the most effective support possible to the people of Japan’s Tohoku region.

This has included fundraising campaigns, surveys of regional needs, the provision of vital items such as water, baby formula and disposable diapers, and the organization of volunteers to do the back breaking work of actually digging homes and schools out of the mud.

At the same time, we have worked to maintain a high level of transparency, and for this reason have established the ROAD Project website (in Japanese), as a sort of information clearinghouse regarding the many facets of our work.

While an English version is still underway, we have for the time being posted an English summary of the monthly report on the site.
