New Multi-Language Website Nippon.com Brings Japan to the World
October 3 marked the launch of Nippon.com, a new website that will present Japan in all its diversity to readers around the world.
Nippon.com is created and run by the Japan Echo Foundation with the support of a grant from the Nippon Foundation. The new site will cover a wide variety of topics, including politics and economics, society, science and technology, and culture—from the traditional arts to the hottest pop culture trends. The site aims to become a comprehensive portal that readers will visit on a regular basis for the latest information on Japan. By providing a diverse range of content, the site will present “life-sized” views of Japan to a global audience, improving understanding of Japan around the world and stimulating interest in the country and its culture.
The new site currently features content in five languages: English, Chinese (both simplified and traditional characters), French, Spanish, and Japanese. In the future, Arabic and Russian will be added, enabling the site to provide information about Japan in all six official languages of the United Nations.
