Conclusion of Period for Donations to Ukrainian Evacuees Assistance Fund

The Nippon Foundation would like to express its sincere gratitude for all donations made to the Ukrainian Evacuees Assistance Fund.

With no end to the conflict in sight, roughly 2,500 people from Ukraine have evacuated to Japan at some point since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Some of these evacuees wish to continue living in Japan for an extended period of time.

The Nippon Foundation set up the Ukrainian Evacuees Assistance Fund in June 2022 to support evacuees from Ukraine by welcoming them to Japan and helping them to feel accepted.

Donations to date (as of March 5, 2024) totaled 199,451,551 yen and have been used to provide support including assistance in finding employment and learning the Japanese language, as well as exchange events and other opportunities to learn about Japan and integrate into their local communities.
We would like to thank everyone who has made a donation.

The period for accepting donations to the Ukrainian Evacuees Assistance Fund will conclude on March 31, 2024 (online donations can be made until 17:00 (Japan Standard Time) on Friday, March 29). We will continue to use the donations received to provide language education and other support, and will periodically update our website with information about these activities.
